I’ve heard it said by people that you must “use it or lose it” when referencing one’s gift and abilities. The statement may seem harsh to some, however, when we review the parable of the talents distributed to the servants of a man in Matthew 25, that’s what we see. The man distributed talents (a talent is worth about 6,000 denarii, or twenty years’ wages for a laborer), to three individuals. Each man had a choice to invest, develop, and or work the talent according to his ability. This analogy says to me that all of them could do something with what they had. So too is the case for each of us. God has given us all something that we can use for Him.
